Painting a Beagle by Carolyn Finnell

Painting a pet has different challenges and rewards. I paint the eyes first because the eyes are what makes the portrait come alive, if they are not right, I might as well wipe it and start over.

I LOVED watching this . . . it's so interesting to see the process. Thank you, Carolyn, for sharing.

This is the first time I've watched a pet portrait being done. Stuck on landscapes! But you make me want to try to paint an animal. It was very interesting. Thanks so much for sharing.

This was a great demo. Easy to watch the process not so hectic and fast that you can't even catch what's going on. Thanks for doing this. I am definitely inspired to try my dogs in oil now.

I really like all the clear, clean steps and watching that color go in. Nicely done.

I could look at this beagles eyes forever! They are beautiful and sensitive and filled with light and love. You are right, after that nothing else matters- eyes have to be right:) Just wonderful and enjoyed seeing the process for you.
